WINTER GUIDING
Winter Mountaineering in the Scottish Highlands
As winter blankets the Highlands in snow and ice, it transforms the landscape into a perfect backdrop for summiting wild, remote peaks. This is one of the best times of year for those looking to explore the beauty and challenge of the highlands. With our deep knowledge of the area, we are uniquely positioned to guide you to your summit.
Whether you have a specific mountain in mind or want to embark on a custom adventure, we can tailor your experience to match your skill level, time, and preferences.
Winter Skills Training
In addition to guiding you on your ascent, we offer essential winter skills training. Learning to travel safely with an ice axe and crampons is a key winter mountaineering skill. We’ll incorporate these vital techniques as part of your journey, ensuring you have the skills needed to move safely on the mountains.
Popular Locations
We regularly guide in the Cairngorms National Park, the Ben Nevis area, Glencoe, and the more remote North West Highlands. Reach out to us, and we’ll start planning your unforgettable winter mountaineering experience.
Equipment Provided
Included in your course fee, we provide all essential mountain safety equipment, such as an ice axe, crampons, and a helmet. Winter clothing and boots are not provided, but we can help arrange winter boot rentals from local shops in Fort William and Aviemore. If needed, we’ll pick up the boots before the course begins.
All group safety equipment, including shelters and first aid kits, will be provided by the instructor. For a detailed kit list and more information, please visit our kit list page or contact us for further assistance.
