CAIRNGORM MOUNTAIN
Cairngorm Mountain Winter Mountaineering
If you're looking to climb your first winter mountain or get a taste of winter mountaineering, Cairngorm is the perfect destination. The summit of Cairngorm stands at 1,244 meters, offering stunning views over the Cairngorm Mountain ski area at the northern end of the national park, above Aviemore.
The mountain is easily accessible from the high car parks near the ski area. You can take less technical, easier-angled routes around the outer edge of the ski area that lead to the summit.
Winter Skills Training
During the course, you'll receive essential skills training for the ascent, including the use of an ice axe and crampons. A qualified instructor will guide you every step of the way. Routes to the summit will vary based on group size, ability, and fitness, ensuring a personalized experience for all. From the top, enjoy breathtaking views across the Cairngorm Plateau, the Northern Corrie's, and, on clear days, all the way west to the summit of Ben Nevis.
Equipment Provided
Included in your course fee, we provide essential equipment such as an ice axe, crampons, and a helmet. Winter clothing and mountain boots are not included. However, you can easily hire boots from local shops in Fort William and Aviemore. We’re happy to arrange this for you and pick up the boots before your course begins.
