CAIRNGORM 4000 EXPEDITION

This is a two-day journey across the highest peaks of Cairngorms National Park. This famous route includes five Cairngorm Munro summits, traversing the entire range. While typically a challenging one-day hike in the summer, we break it into two days during the winter, with an overnight camping stop deep in the Cairngorms. Please refer to the map below for the route and the summits included in this journey. This is a challenging journey and a good level of fitness is required.

This adventure is suitable for those with some winter experience, though extensive knowledge is not required. However, strong hillwalking experience during the summer months and good hill fitness are essential for these two long days in the mountains. Throughout the journey, we aim to refresh and develop your winter mountaineering skills, including movement techniques, ice axe use, avalanche awareness, and navigation.

Our journey begins and ends in Aviemore, where we’ll meet the evening before the trip to check your kit and prepare for the mountain adventure ahead.
The cost of the course includes essential equipment: ice axe, crampons, and a helmet. Winter clothing and winter mountain boots are not provided but can be easily rented from local shops in Aviemore. We can assist with arranging this and picking up the boots before the course begins. All necessary safety equipment, such as group shelters and first aid kits, will be provided by the instructor.
