NEVIS RIDGES

The North Face of Ben Nevis is home to classic ridges, deep gullies, and, in winter, world-class ice climbing. This vast face is divided by a series of long, excellent ridges, offering fantastic mountain journeys during the summer. Routes like Ledge Route, Castle Ridge, Observatory Ridge, North East Buttress, and the iconic Tower Ridge all provide outstanding mountaineering experiences, combining climbing and scrambling in some truly spectacular locations. Each route typically requires a roped approach, often moving together with stops to pitch more technical sections safely.

Ledge Route is the easiest of these lines, making it an ideal introduction to roped scrambling. Tower Ridge, on the other hand, is better suited for those with good hill fitness and a steady head for exposure. For those seeking an unroped ascent of Ben Nevis, we recommend the Mountain Track or CMD Arête routes.
